Waiting for paypal

Ive been wanting to buy something on ebay but can only do so through paypal. So i hooked up my bank account waited a few days for the small payments to go in then put a sum of money into the account to start with, only to be told it takes another 7-9 days to clear.
I dont want to wait this long as i might miss out on the item.
I have added a credit card the other day to the account.
Would this allow the transaction to go through straight away or should i just wait and hope the item is still there when funds clear next week?

You want to pay for something with paypal and your having to wait for the small transactions to go into your account, that bit I get, but then your worried about the time it would take to transfer money from your bank account to your paypal account?

You don't have to wait for money to go into your paypal account in order to spend it- its automatic, you bid, you pay, if there are not enough funds in your paypal, then paypal simply take it straight from whichever bank account you have selected them to- when you go to pay, you are gien the option to select whichever bank account you want to use.

I have recently opened a paypal account and linked and verified it with my bank account (via them transferring a couple of small amounts into my bank account and me telling them what they were)
It then said that i could transfer money from my bank account to the paypal account. So i told it to transfer £50. Then i was told this would take 7-9 days to clear leaving me wondering how am i supposed to pay for it if i have to wait so long to have the money in my paypal account.

Are you saying i can just buy the item even though the funds wont clear till early next week?

Im a novice with the whole paypal thing so apologies if im not being clear.

If you have a card linked then you just buy and pay with paypal and the money comes off your card. You don't need a balance in paypal before you pay for something, that is the beauty of it.
