US Airways and Philadelphia transfers

Hi

How are US Airways? How is their punctuality, seats, meals, inflight entertainment etc?

I have transfers at Philadelphia. Outbound the stopover is 2hr 15 mins, however on the return journey the stopover is only 1 hour 30 mins. Is this sufficient time to transfer including clearing immigration as this is the departure point from the US?

How are the queues at Philadelphia in general?

Many thanks in advance

  • I flew Boston>LA via Philly with US Airways this Sept and only had one hour between planes and had no problem whatsoever.

Philly airport is relatively small so doesn't take too long to get round.

We landed, deboarded, had toilet stop and walked to relevant departure gate for connecting flight all within half hour.

    Have a good trip

  • It is a few years since we transferred through Philadelphia (about 5 years) and the immigration queues when we landed were horrnedous, the worst I have ever experienced. over 2 hours! Like I say it is a number of years ago.

Traveled home to Philly last month so wouldn't really know about the immigration lines, but do remember that PHL is known as the lost luggage capital of the world
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

my girlfriend lives in philly so ive flown there quite a few times now, next time, christmas eve:beer:  roll on!!!

personaly,i think usairways are a better airline than delta, i once flew to jfk with delta and had a connecting flight to philly, they cancelled the connecting flight,,big nightmare,,long story,,never again. Philly immigration has always been far quicker than jfk.
philly isnt a small airport, search google for an airport plan and familiarise yourself as to which terminal you will have to make your way to before hand.
make sure you have proof of your return flight and any proof of the address you'l be stopping at in the usa, makes things alot easier with immigration.

the plane should be a 333airbus which has your own screen in the headrest, plenty of films,tv,music etc. food is standard airline, nothing exciting, always seem to be fairly much on time, last time i actualy landed in philly early
  • Thanks for all your replies.

Mike, you say immigration is easier if you have proof of where you are staying. I am staying with a friend also, so I was wondering what proof do you provide?

You don't need proof as such - your friend's address will suffice.Proof of your return flight (print of e-ticket) will help demonstrate that you've no intentions of becoming an illegal.

Just got back last weekend from Florida via Philly, you will have plenty of time with to get through imigration and get something to eat with your timings. The food court had some of the best food I have ever had in an airport. Dont forget you only need to pick up your luggage on the way into the US, so a shorted stop on return is not a problem.
The entry is very quick (Quicker that Chicago or Washington) but they are very abrupt if you get anything wrong so make sure all your cards are filled out correctly.
US airways have always given us great service if a little cramped on the UK to US part
