Johnson and Starley - what is the difference?

Hi

We live in a Warn Air system house (old Johnson and Starley system), which we are planning to replace.

Therefore went for a couple of quotes, the first chap quoted for the Johnson + Starley Hi Spec 32 Model. And another chap yesterday arrived, and he quoted for the Johnson and Starley Economaire 32 model. I query this second chap, and he said that is what is in demand now, plus is far more accurate in heating temperatures and does not need a flute.

I am not bothered about the flute, as we already have one that can be used. Neighbours who have recently replaced their systems have installed the Hi Spec 32 model.

Anyone got any experience with which one I should go for? or what the difference might be?

Thanks

We have a Hi spec J65
Maintained by a local firm, apart from a 'cleaning' by Buncefield three years ago , the system works well.
  • I have had 3 quotes for both systems, on average the Hi Spec will cost around £2,600 and the Economaire around £4000. Mainly because of the cost savings, and the 3 chaps quoting not being able to convince me with the benefits we will most likely go for the Hi Spec.

In an ideal world I personally would prefer a wet system - purely because I know a little about them and can find someone easily just a problem exist. However my house is designed for warm heating (hard floors etc) therefore I will carry on.
