I really hope some of the goverment interventions work cause if they don't god knows what its gonna be like in a years time:eek:

I doubt it..............sounds like you know some very unlucky people.
P.S. That is not meant to be a 'flippant' answer'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
700 of 2100 to be made redundant or out-sourced UK-wide in the large insurer where I am an outsourced resource awaiting 25% redundancies in our organisation...
What part of the country?
Any coincidence in the industry/subsidiary industries affected?0 -

I take it you are from the North as you know your neighbours.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Most of my neighbours are Sheep (with the odd pheasant hanging around trying to avoid getting shot !!!! )'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

Shoot them? waste of bullets. Just drive around here and you can run two or three over easily, the stupid bug... err birds don't even try and get out of the way.
On topic, I don't know of anyone made redundant/short week either. I live in a pretty rural area, so there are very few large manufacturing employers. Even the builders (small one- or two-man outfits) are busy doing stuff.0 -
I worked for 27 years in the same company but was made redundant early this year.
Got a job within a couple of months but just been told I'm losing it after xmas due to the recession.
DH employers have gone from 120 to 35 over the past year and they are starting to make more cutbacks at the moment.
Friends in the building trade all laid off indefinatly.
I'm from the south btw.0
