anyone know if conservatory warrenties are generally transferable to the next homeowner, or can it vary? i am the 'next homeowner' thinking of claiming, and the small print on the contract i have is not clear. i don't want to ask the company involved directly and 'show my cards'. if the answer is no, then has anyone ever claimed in the name of the person who actually bought the conservatory!!?? how did you go on? any thoughts?
thanks in advance

I worked in the window trade for over 20 years. Most of the companies I worked for offered a 10 years warranty on new windows, conservatories etc. Not one company I ever worked for would transfer the warranty over to a new homeowner. The warranty in every case was only with the original purchasers of the products.
Each company has their own terms and conditions. You need to re-read the supply contract and try to understand the terms set out in this case. I would be very surprised if they allow you to claim in this instance. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

A few years ago, I was tempted by an offer for a front door replacement. The offer was with a 25 year guarantee....amazing ! I thought.
I'd worked for a maintenance company who employed door fitters. One weekend, we fitted the replacement door at my house ourselves. Supply only purchase it was. Assurances about the guarantee were given to me at the time.
When it came to asking the company to come look at the door, they refused. The warranty was valid if the company themselves had fitted the door. It made no difference that the problem was a manufacturing fault and not a fitters fault. They even accepted it was a manufacturing fault.
Had to get trading standards involved in the end.
