Help. Bought the PS3 what else do I need.

Just bought a 80GB pS3, I know I need another sixasis dual shock controller, but do I need the charger thing or do they come with a lead to plug into the back of the ps3 to charge them. Can I charge 2 at once? Also I assume I need one of these hdmi things because my sons telly is hd. Is there anything else i need. So worried my son will unpack it on christmas day and I will have missed something out. Sorry for the ignorance.

The PS3 comes with ONE recharge cable (Which plugs into the USB port on the PS3 (or indeed ANY USB port))

It usually doesnt matter but the only thing to look for in HDMIs is '1.3' compliant (Latest one)
Thats all he needs to USE the PS3
To get the best out of it, it needs to connect to the internet (I use a wireless router for mine)

Do you mean PS3...charger....
PS3 is complete with a hands free controller that is charged by a lead that connects to the front of the PS3.

A HDMI lead is useful just get the cheapest certainly under a tenner.
Some games as well and a couple of blu ray movies
A wireless (or cat5 cable) to the router. Updates are available for download.

To connect to the internet is the wireless built in? I have a wireless hub that I use for my internet is that all I will need. I know he wants to play wirelessly against his friends. Don't need a usb wireless connector to plug into it do I ?

Sorry. One last question. If I need to charge both wireless controllers at once do they come with leads and would I be able to use both the usb ports or are they used for anything else. Also are all the sixaxsis contollers dual shock. I know he wants dual shock controllers and I need 2 because hubby will play as well. Thanks for all your kind help.

Hi there,

I dont believe the controllers come with a usb lead so you will need to pick up another one of the same style that came with the PS3.

You can charge both controllers at the same time if you wish (one in each usb port) but they will charge equally as well if you were to plug them into a pc's usb ports (whilst its switched on of course).

Not all sixaxis are dual shock. the original models were just standard sixaxis controllers and were a bit lighter than the dual shock variety.

villas right. The PS3 comes with one lead. The controls THEMSELVES do not.
Not ALL are dual shock no (Theyre fairly new, so some dodgy salesmen will probably try ro sell you the NONE dual shock AS a dual shock!)
Id assume the PS3 comes with them as standard now, though im really not sure.

any usb mini b cable should work to charge ps3 controllers.

i think that the only limit on charging the controllers is the amount of usb ports you have. i have had 3 controllers on charge at the same time (i have the 60gb model with 4 usb ports).

The Controllers do not come with a additional lead which is annoying considering the cost of them. You can use the one that came with the PS3 or will need to get a additional lead to charge more than 1.
