Trying to get to California

Hi,
I've got to get to a friend's wedding on February 3rd in Los Angeles. At the moment I'm getting flights (2nd - 5th) for around £550 for two adults. Are there any ways of cutting this down? I'm prepared to change dates or fly to an East Coast city and then get an internal flight.
Other money saving ideas welcomed.

£550 for 2 people(£275 each) for direct flights is very good indeed - snap it up.0

Thomas Cook have a North West airline flight via Detriot in each direction to LAX from Gatwick. The stopover is about 2 hours in each way. Of course if a flight is delayed this could complicate your connections and therefore adds an element of risk of delays.
This works out at £261 per adult. The fare is £158 with tax & charges of £103 per person. So the savings are not great.
I would agree with the previous post - you have got a good price for a total of 12,000 miles in an aircraft.0 -
Your price is really good. Did you try returning on the 6th sometimes travelling Mon-thurs is slightly cheaper? Bear in mind you have to clear US customs and immigration at first landfall in the US this can make catching connections a little stressful.0

that's ridiculously cheap for a flight to the states... gettit b4 it goes away...
(was that with taxes & charges?)0 -
Yeh have to agree with everyone else that is a great offer as long as that price includes all the taxes!0

£275 is very good if it is direct and includes taxes, fees and charges.
It is well worth getting a direct outbound flight (to the USA) to avoid the hassle of immigration with a connecting flight, did it once, never again.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
It can take over an hour to get through immigration depending on the flights that land at the same time as yours.
We have family in LA and have always flown direct, thats a good price.....go for it....
