Bonjour! This is Shrimply saying "Hello"... this won't become a diary... honest!

You're off to a cracking start. Keep plugging away at it and posting in your non-diary (not to be confused with non-dairy which is a completely different concept altogether, I'm led to believe) and you'll find that you're back on track in no time.
It is hard to go from spending and having anything you want, to buying nothing, but if you find a new hobby to take the place of the spending (such as posting on here) then it makes it all so much easier.
What does the wife think of your plans?0 -
I seem to be spending an awful lot of time designing t-shirts at the minute and taking photographs for the image libraries so hopefully these ‘hobbies’ will keep my mind of buying stuff (…although I really could do with a wide angle lens for the camera
). Also, I’ve found out that Photobox allow you to design and sell greetings cards so I may give that a whirl over the next couple of days.
When asked what she thought The Wife simply described it me as “going through another one of those phases”. I’m sure she thinks I’ve lost the plot… all I ever talk about now is internet reviewing, questionnaires, money off vouchers and the occasional t-shirt design. Don’t get me wrong, she’s being very supportive… she’s just doing it with a smirk on her face.
On the money saving front there have been a few major setbacks in the last 48hrs. Our re-mortgage is taking longer than expected and we’ve slipped into a higher variable rate mortgage this month… taking over £100 extra out of the joint account. I applied for a 0% credit card so I could do a balance transfer but was declined. The Wife has accidentally driven into a post in the new (lower tax, lower insurance, lower fuel consumption) car and our washing machine has died again . Luckily all the stuff I’ve got on E-bay is looking pretty popular so most of the costs look like they can be covered by my E-bay income. I was going to use the money for Christmas but it looks like I’m now going to be relying more on getting a Christmas bonus from work… or selling more stuff, quickly. Sod it, I may just send the dog out to get a job… she's only a puppy but I reckon she could wear some antlers and a red nose and be a tiny reindeer in the local Santa’s grotto.:rudolf:

Well, I'm back on the train heading into work. The world looks soooooo beautiful when the weather's like this.
I sold another book on Amazon last night so it's everything's looking pretty good on that front. I got a call from the washing machine folk telling me that they would dispatch an engineer on Monday so hopefully everything will be fixed by then. Also got a letter through about the gas and electricity switch which should help cut a few ££££ off each month's spend. :j
Only drawback in the last 24hrs is our 8 month old puppy had a light bulb moment of her own yesterday. The Wife came home and found that the dog was playing with what was left of a lightbulb and there was glass all over the floor! It looks as though I'd forgotten to move one of the lightbulbs when I was swapping out all are bulbs for energy efficient ones. I don't think she's eaten any glass... but we're keeping a very close eye on her just to be sure.
...and my footy team got knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday with the help of a poor penalty decision.

Any sign of that SOA yet?
Great that you're doing so well with the Ebay/Amazon sales, mine have all but dried out. Possibly because I haven't listed anything...must investigate the relationship between the two further.
 at the puppy/lightbulb situation. At least it wasn't one of the energy savers she ate as they're supposed to be full or mercury (or something equally toxic. It's not handbags, so I dunno). Almost as bad as the day I found my baby sucking on a bottle of rinse aid. Oh, how we laughed...

Hi Shrimply
I only just found your non-diary, and have found it interesting and very entertaining. The quote below made me spit my tea out :rotfl:ShrimplyIrresistable wrote: »As far as gadgets are concerned I wasn’t trying to keep up with the Jones I think I was trying desperately to keep up with the Jetsons.
I will be subscribing with interest and possible starting my own in the new year. Good luck with the Amazon sales.

Hi Shrimp and welcome on board. Keep the spelling of your name, it suits you.
I'm sure the spelling police have better things to do, like designing instruction boosk for gagets.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Dear non-diary...
I'm back on the train, heading home, ready for the weekend. Firstly, it's nice to see folk popping in every now and again to see how things are in the world of Shrimply… apologies for any tea spitting incidents.
I have a week off work now so I’ll be able to indulge in my new hobby… being a DFW. First things first I reckon that an SOA is in order. By the end of the weekend I should have that sorted and then I’ll be able to get a shift on with the E-Bay, Amazon and the long list of DIY jobs that I’ve been volunteered for.
Dog update: After 3 days it looks as though the puppy (affectionately nicknamed "Pants") is not suffering any ill effects from chewing on a light bulb. The first night I even slept on the floor in the kitchen just in case she had some sort or reaction in the night. It turns out that a Boxer puppy's favourite toy is a caring owner wrapped helplessly in a sleeping bag at 3 o’clock in the morning.
Finally got my £50 Amazon voucher through from Qype so that will help pay for a couple of little presents for my niece and nephew. I’ve been looking for stuff for them for the last week now and where I used to get Amazon making very sensible recommendations for me it now just seems to give me Hannah Montana and High School Musical merchandise!!! According to Amazon’s database I’ve morphed into a 10 year old girl who loves Zac Efron! !!!!!!!:rotfl:
Amazon sales seem to be going fairly steady at the minute. A few £ and a few £ there. I got a nice e-mail from a charming German gentleman the other day asking if I would consider selling one of my £100 magic books to him in Deutschland… so I’ve altered the listing to enable his purchase… but I’m still waiting for him to buy. SCHNELL SCHNELL, KARTOFFELKOPF!
I also got an e-mail from a deposed Ugandan Prince who needs someone to look after $32,000,000 Ugandan dollars whilst he escapes from the local rebels… dear non-diary, could this be the answer to my DFW dreams?
The photography is coming on and I’m now using Photobox to try and sell some of my photos as greetings cards… at last, the dog is finally showing some potential for profit making. How come every time I'm on the train to work in a morning I see loads and loads of beautiful scenes that would make excellent landscape photography projects... I could make a fortune selling these photos if I could just get out of the damn train and click away to my heart's content.
Anyway non-diary, I’m nearly home now so I’ll bid you adieu… maybe I’ll pop back and see you once I’ve redecorated the entire house, trimmed all the hedges, fortified the house to make it dog proof, fixed the guttering, got the car repaired, caught up with the backlog of washing , sent off all the E-bay items… and so on and so on and so on…

Quick non-diary update:
Had the washing machine man round last night to get the damn thing working again. It turns out that one of my metal collar bones from my shirts has been stuck in the machine and trashing it. As it wasn't faulty we've been charged £86 for the call out and I've lost the use of my collar bones which were mangled to $%&$%£*!!!
My x-box died as well yesterday so I'm now waiting to see if Micrsoft will fix it for free or whether I'll have to shell out to get it working again.
A very grumpy,

Have just read your non-diary and wish you all the best on your quest!!
I too am waiting for my £50 Amazon voucher from Qype - do you have any idea when we should get them - I have messaged to ask them, but as yet... no reply!
My OH is quite into photography too and I have read about these photo libraries. Can I ask if you have had any takers on them yet?
Wishing you (and the puppy) all the best!!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Just stopping in to see if that SOA has been published yet...
Anyway, good that pants is fit and well, not so good about the domestic appliances. Loving the new Amazon recommendations. I was looking at train sets on there for my little one, and now I get a load of complete tosh. Oh, and I bought a mankini for DH a couple of weeks ago (£4, free with a voucher) and I got some VERY interesting recs from that.
Keep going, you're doing fab.0
