Need a cheap hotel in York, any ideas??

Hi everyone,

It's my 30th Birthday on the 15th and I'm wanting to go to York for the night. Obviously, after Christmas, everyone's a little bit hard up for cash.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a nice Hotel or B & B in York city centre?? I've looked at the Premier Inn websites etc which have rooms for about £60.00, however I'm just wondering if there might be anywhere else.

Many thanks

Youth Hostel? If you do want somewhere cheap well its about £10 per night https://www.marmadukes.co.uk Nice place just 5-8min walk from the bar walls.

If you like to stay outside york my father used to own http://www.orilliahouse.co.uk/ Its a nice place and there is a bus that takes you into york every 30 min upto midnight, Tel 01904 400600 dont know how much it now costs though room 4 is the best.

Don't stay at The Minster Hotel (used to be called the Hudson Hotel) as it was good about 3 / 4 years ago though a new family bought it and now it has gone down hill.

Moat House Hotel is like an up market travel lodge nothing special though is next to the heart of the city. Novotel York very nice not too far to walk into town say 10min though is around the one way system so if you have not been to york before could be a bit tricky.

PS i live in york (and lived in a guest house for most of my life) if you need any more info pm me.

You won't get a £10 room (must be 21 days advance booking) but it does seem as if they have one at £26! I'd go for that! It's a real bargain for York.

Ask for room 31 or 32 at the back (I think) and get woken by the geese on the river in the morning.
