Self Catering Cottages in the UK

I'd be VERY grateful for suggestions for websites people have used listing self-catering cottages in the UK.

Looking for a week in late Aug for 4 adults and 4 young kids possibly on the Welsh /Devon/Cornwall coasts, preferably with a pool.

Any suggestions for more precise locations gratefully received.

  • We looked at this http://www.southfarm.co.uk/ they have got an outdoor pool, play area and fishing lake. We stayed at a farm in Looe over Christmas, lovely cottages, but no pool.
  • https://www.helpfulholidays.co.uk and https://www.cottages4you.co.uk used both and can recommend. I always use holiday rentals.com when renting abroad, but the 2 times we have booked direct with the owner in the UK , we have been disappointed - I don't know if we are too greedy over here or that if people aren't regulated they think that they can get away with murder!! (well, overpriced, unclean properties!)

we too have used helpful holidays, twice in fact, the place we had last year had a pool but there were 16 of us, cost £3000, but not too bad shared out with other families. bit too big for you!
they really live up to their name, and you get a real 'personal touch' with them

Never used them myself, but http://www.chooseacottage.co.uk seems to have quite good rates & quite a few cottages throughout the UK & beyond.

picked up a Hoseasons brochure at a travel agent yesterday and they seemed full of ideas for what you wanted, not sure if they have a website too

We have been twice to a fantastic farm just south of Cardigan in Wales. The website is http://www.croft-holiday-cottages.co.uk/

Only about 5 mins from nearest beach, all the cottages are 5 star with absolutely everything - including all cleaning products, dishwasher tablets, tea towels!! Great for kids - indoor heated pool and jacuzzi and the nearby beaches are fantastic, especially Poppit Sands. Loads of days out nearby too! It's a seven hour drive (with a 3yr old!) for us to get there, so it must be good!!
