If the person who fitted it was CORGI registered, CORGI will have his details and will contact him asking why he didnt issue the certificate. Or are you saying he isnt registered?

He was definately registered, he has written his corgi no on the benchmark book. He was recommended by OH's cousin who is a builder, I have no issue with his work and it's all still working well. He was good at his job but not very reliable in terms of time keeping. I emailed corgi too and tried phoning but they were all staff training.

Well, if he is registered, you have no problem, CORGI can give you his details, even if he has moved and then he can do a copy cert for you. Rest easy :)

2005 actually in England, dunno about the Jocks.

Sorry, muddling-up with windows. Main point holds good though: make sure you get all the certs and keep them safe.

Had a reply from corgi, have given them details so they can check if it was registered. They said if not we can get either him or another corgi registered fitter to recommission the boiler and then get our cert, phew! Just panicking a bit as this is our 3rd time SSTC and don't want to jepordise the sale. We have certs for everything else, inc rewire and new electrics in the ext but they didn't ask for that just building regs, boiler and FENSA cert.
Many thanks for all your replies.

I hope it all goes well for you
  • Call me irresponsible - but to get a Corgi registered person to do my boiling/heating would have cost 500 - 1000 quid more than using a non-corgi registered. I just bought a CO tester. When I sold the house, I paid the 35 quid for insurance. BIG savings. I was also lucky that the people who bought my house had done the exact same thing with their house so they didn't care

I'm sure getting a indemnity insurance will work out cheaper. If the boiler hasn't killed you - it's ok

No one is supposed to touch boilers except for Corgi Registered Engineers so if you had called someone else in you would have been breaking the law.
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Yes I know - I knowingly broke the law to save me money. I was the only person living in the house so only risked my own life ;)
