Aaarrgghh.. pulling my hair out here. I am trying to set up an Ipod shuffle for first time. No matter what I do my pc just does not see the Ipod. I've followed all instructions on https://www.apple.com/support/ipod - has anyone had similar or is it just a dud?
Thanks
... updated itunes / ipod software / used 4 different usb ports / reset ipod / rebooted pc .. bounced it off the wall .. ignore that last one , you get the message!

not tried it in another puter yet have you?
also check the device manager to ensure there is not a problem with the USB ports.Welcome, rogerramjet.

It should be ok unless there is a yellow circle with an exclemation mark in it.
Did you plug in the ipod before installing the software? it maybe windows has recognised it as a usb storage device if you did, one way around that would be to delete all the usb devices in device manager and restart...then re-boot where all the devices will be re-installed...leave the ipod out at that stageand put it in later.

JUst one more thing... sorry... can I now use Itunes to copy to a Creative mp3 player I bought myself ? 11 year old happy with ipod... but I could do without having 2 lots of software to do the same job with some of the same music!HLK

Can't help you on that one...but if I remember correctly the Creative is recognised as a usb drive....I'd look at using something like audiograbber or cdex (both freeware) to rip the cd's to mp3, then you can install on the ipod using itune and just drag and drop to the Creative mp3.Welcome, rogerramjet.
