from an old thread on here ... http://www.ozprepaidcards.com.au/

I've seen another site as well, but can't find it at the moment
• I was actually wondering if there was an access number to dial rather than buying a pre-paid card that would then cost either 1c or 1p a minute. ANY OTHER HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED

do a search of this forum for Australia - I vaguely think there was something else in September or so about an Australian site with cheap calls comparisons or recommendations - I just couldn't find it last night ....... or Google etc?

or look into voice over internet possibilities - free calls between people who use the same system, and some free calls to pstn numbers as well

Interesting site PF.

I found
Prices are reasonable – a call to Britain or North America costs between $1.03 and $1.35 a minute.
particularly interesting - that's a very UNreasonable 43p to 57p per minute if my calculations are correct!

The MSE Callchecker shows 18185 charge 0.5p/minute and TEN dialthrough providers charge 1p/minute for us to call Australia!

Spoilt, aren't we?

Even BT only charge 9p to 24p/minute.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

was half a cent on top of a local call too cheap then? - ok off-peak at 11pm, but still ... or 0.9c all day?

you can call from a Vodafone Australia SIM reasonably cheap for a mobile 7.5p/min
