It really depends upon the game. The 6600GT was the entry level card a little while back, but I feel that the 6800 and 6800GT is becoming more so nowadays.

As examples, Battlefield 2 runs nicely. F.E.A.R and Quake 4 ran ok but I had to reduce the graphics a bit. In fact Quake 4 was a bit of a beast, but then again I've not found the Doom3 engine to be the most efficient.

I agree with you though, I didn't want to spend £250+ (can get a X360 for that) on a graphics card either, it's just not worth it for me. You'll be fine with a 6800GS (medium settings generally). It should last you quite a while longer.

With regards to memory I use Geil. Some don't like it, but I've found it to perform very well. Just bought an extra gig infact (Battlefield 2 eats it up). 2gb with heat spreaders costs about £124 from https://www.microdirect.co.uk. I don't know what that's like in comparison to the Corsair, just thought I'd mention.

The Corsair is about the same and I've always been a big fan, so I'll probably stick with it.

As a slight adendum to TOG's attempted argument above, it appears that the Neo4 is only capable of Sata 150 speeds. Back to the ASus for the time being it seems.
