Las Vegas

Was in Vegas in November and stayed in Monte Carlo. Very good facilities, extremely comfortable beds, and not too much walking required within the hotel - some of them are horrendously large, 5,300+ bedrooms!!
Heli tour to Grand Canyon a must; we landed, eat in ranch house and then went on a horse trek in the desert for half an hour. Be careful about the time of day you book, as it will be very hot in July.
Strip is very long, about 8 miles. However they have double decker busses running every few minutes - the Deuce and it is reasonable @ $5 for 24 hour ticket - hop on and off as often as you want.
Would definitely recommend Vegas to any adult.0 -
We got married in the Monte Carlo Hotel, great Hotel with friendly staff but for food it has to be Circus Circus, there bufets are surperb, fantastic food eat as much as you like for a cheap price. Kids also loved the fun fair facilties in the C.ircus Circus as will the adults too. All the other Hotels on the strip are well worth visiting to, Treasure Island has a great show,New York New York, Aladin, Paris,Luxor, Harahs, all great too.Competitions wins 2010

we are going to vegas for the 4th time during the easter hols this year. We love it !
Like others have said do not book a package. We have a return ticket to LA (booked a while ago i think it was about £300 per person inc taxes) staying a couple of nights then driving to vegas (https://www.yescarhire.com ). no one way drop off charge. then returning to LA with americawest for about $49 per person.
Havent booked vegas hotels yet but have joined all the hotel mailing lists and will book direct with them nearer the time. We have booked hotels in LA and a couple of nights at Bryce Canyon (a fri and Sat to avoid the weekend charges).
We have been to the grand canyon, you must go! we drove there and stayed a couple of nights but if you dont want to do that take a helicopter trip.
Red Rock canyon is worth a look and is only half an hour outside vegas.
There are so many things to do and see in vegas itself a lot of which have been covered on here.
IMO I dont think it matters to much which hotel you stay in ( have stayed in a few) but what is perhaps more important is situation. For me the best place is central strip ie Caesers palace area, and the best value by far in that area is the Imperial palace.
I guess others will disagree but that is my opinion.0 -
Totally agree with the above post.
Cheapflights are great for airlines to Vegas.
Flights should be aound the £340 mark.
If you book with United Airlines, I know of a way of going Business Class for about £100 extra per person.
I'm going in March for my birthday.
Usually I tend to stay in Motel 6 or America's Best Value Inn. There just behind the MGM, so right by the Strip and best of all, they cost about £20 per night.
I booked the hotel this time through Vegas.com. Got the Stratosphere for £330 for the week for 2 of us.
Also while your there you MUST go to The Beach nightclub.
Not many people will tell you about it, unless you ask, but it's the best place in the world.
Its open 24hrs. Go there for lunch and buy a few drinks, give out a few good tips and they usually give you a few tickets for VIP entrance on the night.
As for trips - Grand Ganyon is worthwhile, but go by plane of chopper. Not worth a 13hr coach!
Helicopter flight at night is a must!
Also, for a real journey, hire a car and drive North on US 93.
Turn off onto the Extraterrestrial Highway and drive to Rachel / Area 51.
Landscape is amazing and the town of Rachel is awesome - so friendly there!
Also, quad biking from Jean, all the way to the California border at Primm. I've done this 3 times now and go with American Adventure tours.
The tour guide (Hugh) is wicked and certainly shows you some tricks with a quad bike!0 -
tanith wrote:did the Grand Canyon Helicopter tour , stunning couldn't praise it highly enough..... also flew over the Hoover Dam and the Lakes on the way to the Canyon . We took the Champagne Breakfast trip down into the Canyon , I think I was speechless for the whole trip it was so spectacular and stunning ... we landed on the edge of the river for breakfast and were able to just wander for an hour or so..... The silence was deafening ....
We did that trip too, it's the best one. It was fantastic and is a MUST DO. Here is a link to it:

Ask nicely and you can sit next to the pilot. The trip even included pick-up from the hotel and return afterwards. Brilliant value for money.0
