Can anyone help - PC problem

My brother is having a problem with his PC - can anyone help?

When he starts his computer he receives the error message:

STOP: C0000221 [bad image checksum] the image MPR.D11 is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

I would really appreciate it if someone can help..

It may be on the xp cd, so there should be a way, via the recovery console, of copying

This should walk you through how to do it. Just replace User32.dll in the instructions with mpr.dll.
