Been with Eon now for about 3 months now for gas and electric. both on pre-payment meters  , (was on pre-payment wiv southern elltric beforehand, but changed to Eon, as S/E was getting to dear to keep topping up g and e meters...........
I just called them up to ask, if i can stop being pre- payment metes and go on monthly / quartlery bills, BUT it cost you £50.00 PER EACH meter!!
 ..
The reason i wish to get of pre- payment meterr is as follows:....
£70.00 on electric only lasting us 2 WEEKS!!....
Gas is normally £5.00 a day!!!!!!!!!!1.
Way, way to much......... I have rads, no storage heateras ( thank god), Not on ecomey 7 either, but Yet my payments are bloody getting a joke!!!!!!!!!!..........
Now, does anybody know what company would WONT charge me from pre-payment meters to monthly / quartlery bills, ASAP!!!!!
Is there any companies i should look into, or AVOID!!!

Most companies will do it free, but I think all will do a credit check.0

if you are useing 5-00 a day for gas you must have the heating on all day
you will still have a high gas bill but all in one lumpremember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice

Credit meters would be cheaper but, as said, your bills will be high and you'll have a high DD - do you know how many kwh you are using per week?0

One thing to consider - if you have previously had a billed account with Scottish Power - and you kept the account in good order, you could switch to them and they will swap the meters over for free, ensure you have that in writing before you switch to them.
Other suppliers will credit check however many will still charge either a fee or a security deposit which you get back after 6 - 12 months.
One thing to try here is to call energy companies (not on 0845's 0870's, there are almost always 0800 alternatives) and ask them if they would change your meter at no cost if you were to switch your energy supply to them. Once you have your answers then if there are any suppliers willing to do this, then use an impartial energy comparator to find out which one out of those suppliers would be the best option.
Hope this helps0 -
Is the meter set to the right amount ?0

I had problems with E-on pre-payment meters too.
I have just moved house a few months ago and in my previous house I was with e-on paying monthly and doing everything online, with the supersavers deals etc to get all the discounts.
Anyway when I moved, my new home had pre-payment meters and those were with Npower. I called e-on when I was moving to say I wanted to take them over to my new home and they said fine. I still had to open an account with Npower though for my new place as thats who was supplying the gas and electricity.
It took a about a month for e-on to be transferred over and the sent me new cards and a key for the gas and electricty. Once everything was over to e-on I rang them up saying now that I am back with you's over at my new home I want me pre-payment meters taken out and to go back to direct debits. The women on the other end said. I will have to wait 12 months before I can get them taken out and then it will be £50 each. When I asked why she said it starts from when you came back to us. But I hadnt really been away from them. She said costs were for credit checks etc which I didnt understand because I was paying direct debit in my old home.
Anyway I wasnt happy so I rang the complaint line and they guy was very helpfull and said I had been told wrong information and everything can be changed back over to normal meters and start paying by direct debit again as I hadnt really left them just had to open a new account for my new home.
Everything was sorted with in 2 weeks.
If you have been paying by direct debit anytime before and think you have good credit I would suggest ringing the complaints line they might be able to help you
Sorry this was a long story just to get to the point :rolleyes:Comping again0
