Do They Still do Train/Bus Travelcards in London?

Options
For my commute to work everyday I travel from Sanderstead (which is a zone 6 station just past East Croydon) to Victoria everyday with Southern and then get a bus to my place of work which is near Marble Arch.

Currently I get a zone 1 to 6 travelcard which covers train, bus and tube. However I rarely actually use the tube.

I was wondering if it was still possible to get a Rail/Bus type travelcard that doesn't include the tube as I could easily use Oyster Pay and Go for any rare tube journeys that I make.

Also out of interest do the fares go up on January 1st and would it be worth getting my season ticket before then in order to make any savings and are their any other discount cards that might be of some use for knocking more money off the fare?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You could walk from Victoria to Marble Arch doesn't take long at all!

Sorry can't help with your query, I think Oyster works on buses but not sure if there is a discount for bus

get a season ticket and PAUG with the bus or walk...

your TC is £45 a week.

season ticket is £33 (SNR - London terminals (inc vic, lbridge, waterloo, Kings X & Paddington) . bus is £1?!

if u walk from Vic to MA, then ur quids in but if u HAVE to get a bus, im guessin season ticket aint 4 u.

i do season ticket and PAUG oyster with a YP added as i only use the tube once a week or so off peak so my journeys are capped @ £3.10. i save over £10 a week without using TC.

I'm intrigued as to how you get to Paddington from the south on a London terminals ticket

But the main advice is good

no idea just stating 'london terminals'.

i did once wonder how id do it myself... *laugh*
  • I just checked the National Rail website and a 1 year season ticket - Zone 6 to 'London Terminals' costs £1,328.

An annual bus pass will cost £520.

A Zone 1 to 6 Travelcard on Oyster to cover train, buses and tubes will cost £1,784.

I think I may just go ahead and get the yearly Travelcard. Am pretty sure the train pass won't cover buses as well.

Or you could save £520 and walk?
  • It's seriously just that 10 minutes too far - It's past Marble Arch and quite a bit further up the Edgeware road.

Would mean getting up 45 minutes earlier to catch an earlier train as well and then changing at East Croydon as I'd have to get a London Bridge train from Sanderstead.

And for the sake of £456 I may as well just get the travelcard. I'll probably spend a couple of hundred on buses and tubes throughout the 12 month period anyway so the saving would more likely be a couple of hundred.
