Hi Jonathan50, how was your son managing his Student Account? Did he pay his student loan into his account, any other credits? Did he have other accounts with Halifax like Savings?

Does having savings with Halifax reduce your chances of keeping/increasing your overdraft with them?
  • yes, he did pay his student loan into the account and, no, he did not have any savings with them. but they seem to have taken umbrage at his decision to stop part time working, so that money from his former part time job was no longer going into that account.
  • If student loans are going into the account, then that by itself should be alright, from what I was told.

All the best in trying to get this sorted with the underwriters department, do let us know how your son gets on!
