I put a new claim in for JSA last thursday online and the message said someone would try to contact me via phone within 48 hrs. Saturday I was up early and out and I had no messages left for me. This morning I receive a letter to say they had tried to contact me twice on my landline and could I ring the number at the top of the letter. So I did just that. I went throught the correct options was asked my postcode and was given a number for bolton. Tried to ring it and it said it was no longer used, and it gave an alternative 0845 number. I phoned it and was told by the lady that there was no new claim on my notes and no notes to say I was contacted.
Confused ??? So am I. She told me to make a new claimby phone but when I ring the number exactly the same thing happened again. So now I am going to try and claim online again and see if they can ring me at a time suitable to me. But why don't they just leave a message???

That number is the one at the top of the letter. I get nowhere because it asks you for your postcode then gives you 01204 ...... that does not exist and then it gives you an 0845 number which I rang and she told me to ring the number again. I had this problem last time. So no,I am not going to phone again and do it online instead otherwise I am going round in circles.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230

I would go into your local Jobcentre, and take the letter with you as proof that you applied. It sounds like they have got two applications merged, so your details are matching up fully with one?Gone ... or have I?0

I'd suggest calling the number and pressing the option for new claims not existing claims. The existing claims give you the number for your local processing site, most of which are out of date. Doing the claim online is utter crap. You basically provide the information someone put its onto the system and then tries to call you to complete the rest of the forms. If you go through the call in one go it's quicker and easier. The amount of online claims that disappear or nothing happens to them is immense.0

When you put in your claim online did you print out or save the initial details? When I did mine I got a user ID and a claim reference. You will be able to use this as proof of the date you want your claim to start from and initially contacted them.
Best thing is to go to your jobcentre. It's best to talk face to face.Looking forward to the future.0

job centres will not see you as it is all done by contact centres call job seekers phone line quote you national ref and ask if they have your claim and waht is the date of claim so you know if this has not happened make a new claim request backdating i work on jsa hope this helps 0 0

I have done all this. If I take option for new claim it asks me my postcode again. So think I will phone number later and try and speak to someone about it. You cannot go into the job centre as they will ask you to go home and phone the number. The job centre is only for your appointment to sign on. The whole system needs sorting out its rubbish.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230

Got sorted, went for rapid reclaim appointment, had to fill in forms again, plus why I left my previous job and they will decide on whether to pay me because I resigned from the job. One lady was unhelpful but the second one was really nice to me. why is it that I feel as if I am scrounging when I claim. I finished work on the 13th and tried to leave it a while before I claimed. If they really read all my notes and circumstances and the fact I had worked solid for 22 years and never claimed since I was 17, they would believe I am really trying to get a job part-time, agency or full time. I have even tried to start working from home as a typist.
I think its only a small minority who claim and do not want to work. I reckon most people are really working hard to get a job.
I do not like going there to sign on as I feel awful claiming off the state.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230

there are very strict rules on back dating and the powers that ve are getting very strict about it waiting to find work is never accepted as backdating reason background work history isnt looked at either sorry. i agree vast majority of people who claim want to work small % are rude and aways wasting job centre time. good luck with finding work 0 0
