CurrencyFair.com. I use this to transfer GBP to PLN every month, and occasionally back from PLN to GBP also. Very good rates, and quick/easy with local bank accounts in Poland and UK.0 -
If I wanted to send £ to INR (indian rupees) how would be the cheapest way to go about it? Its all tiny amounts, never more than £200 per month and irregular as well.Living off £450 per month is easy...! If you aren't single! :j0

I've used Foreign Currency Direct (http://www.currencies.co.uk/) in the past to transfer money but they told me today that certain new US regulatory requirements mean they are no longer able to accept transactions from US residents or US citizens. I notice that HiFX also has the restriction: Please note, we are unable to offer our money transfer services to clients located in the United States of America (USA) and Quebec (Canada).
Can anyone recommend a cost effective way to transfer money from my GBP accounts to the US? We're talking somewhere in the region of £20K.
Thanks0 -
I have never used them, but transferwise seem to not ask about the residency/citizenship: https://transferwise.com/request/placeOrder?execution=e1s2
I'd try some smaller amount first.0 -
I need to transfer around £1600 from the UK to Canada for a rental deposit and two months rent.
Anybody any advice on the best place to use? Have never had to do this before, so it all feels a bit new and the amount makes me nervous of making a mistake!!
Thanks for any help.
The money will go to the landlords bank account, which he's given me the details of, and will be in Canadian dollars.£10 a day in November = £593.31 / £3000 -
As far as I can tell, Currencyfair (£3 + 0.15%)gives a better deal than Transferwise (0.5% or £1 on smaller amounts under £200) in every case.
Am I missing something? I have to send my brother in the USA some money and I don't want waste his money.
Incidentally, I can't beat Currencyfair with the FX brokers either, even on a 5 figure sum. Am I doing something wrong?0 -

Hi all,
I am trying to send money to Serbia (Belgrade) and I think the cheapest way to do it is to send sterling and allow the beneficiary bank to covert. Does anyone know which bank/broker allows GBP transfers to an IBAN at lowest cost!?
Many thanks!0 -

The cheapest way to send Sterling abroad may well be to use your bank.
International money transfer companies usually make their profits on the foreign currency spreads and are not geared up to send GBP, so will charge a higher fee whereas a bank will usually charge a one off fee of £200
