I had mine out about 8 years ago - i did not have gallstones but a build up of cholesterol and the pain was UNBEARABLE. Having it out was the best thing I ever did - the recovery was OK but my cuts were numb for several months.

Goodluck with your op Linz32.
I'm on day 11 now after the operation. I'm still at home as i booked 2 weeks off work. I have been to see the nurse this morning to have my dressings removed.. 2 of the holes are completely healed , just 2 small straight scars about 1cm long on the right hand side of my tummy {one high ,one low}
The other two holes are in the center of my tummy, one on my belly button and the other just in the center of my ribcage , top of tummy. Unfotunately these two have an infection. I have been put onto a weeks course of penicillan, and they have had new dressings applied.
When i felt a little warm at the weekend and a slight burning sensation in my tummy i put it down to the fact that i had done a little too much !! Ooops:D
The fact is i feel realy well, and it's so tempting to pick up after my messy teenagers, wash those dishes, make that bed.
Now i'm eating humble pie, because what i was ignoring and brushing off as discomfort due to being a little too active was probably the first signs of infection:D
Oh well back to daytime telly and my feet up ! Ha !:j0 -

Hello
Am so glad I found this thread and thanks to the other posters for their information.
I started with nausea, burning pain under right shoulder blade, moving inbetween shoulderblades, up to neck in April this year. It seemed to last for days then I'd be ok, then it would be back. Somehow it seemed to be worse around the time of the month?? Doc did blood tests (liver function, cholestrol, anemia etc.) and all were ok. Symptoms continued, had ultrasound, radiographer said she couldn't see any gallstones...
Fast forward to July - I've had 3 'attacks' where I'm bloated, writhing around in agony, feel like my stomach is on fire, short of breath. One attack took me to A&E, chest xray, more blood tests and ECG fine. After the attacks I am completely debilitated, nauseous and light headed. My sister had gallstones and witnessed one attack and is convinced that is what it is. I am lucky enough to have private healthcare through work so have seen a consultant and am having Endoscopy and CT scan next week. Am so worried that this might be 'something else'. Do my symptoms sound like gallstones?
Thanks for any replies

Without giving any medical advicethat is exactly the kind of pain I had when I had my worst attack. It started feeling like a muscle strain deep under my shoulder blade, but got worse and worse.
I had my gallbladder out *scratches head and counts back* 13 years ago and haven't looked back. Digesting anything containing fat is a bit uncomfortable sometimes, but nothing compared to a dodgy gallbladder.
Hope you get sorted.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - pleaseGIVE BLOOD
- you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
