Car Registration from NI to England

I bought a car in Northern Ireland and I'm living in England. I need to register it from the garage dealer to my name but he said it has NI tax on it for another few months. He said NI and England don't recognise each other and I would need to tax it in England and then I can register it? HELP??

iirc i had to bring the registration book thingy (as it was then), proof of valid insurance and mot, and quite possibly my passport too (my driving liscence still had the wrong address). but the car was registered in my name in ni, so relaly not sure how it would work when its not registered at all yet.

they were very helpful in swansea when i phoned them to inquire about what i needed to do.
