HMV.com one lie after another

This may be a very minor and trivial thing but its really annoyed me. On Friday 14th November went on a bit of a spending spree, bought 2 xbox 360 games from game.co.uk and Guitar Hero World Tour from hmv.com as it was the only place I could find it in stock.
On the HMV site clearly said that the item would be despatched within 24 hours. I got an email to say it had been despatched at 19:13 on Monday the 17th. Now granted it was the weekend and i did order about 23:00 but as a comparison the stuff I ordered from Game.co.uk was delivered before HMV even got round to processing the order. The claim of despatching within 24 hours is clearly misleading.
But it gets better, the email confirming despatch said it would take 2-5 days to arrive, being the optimist I expect it to arrive Wednesday or Friday at the latest. Wednesday comes and no delivery, Thursday comes and no delivery, Friday comes and no delivery, Monday comes and no delivery. About this time I am starting to wonder whats going on so give the customer service number a call to chase a tracking order, its been a week and no delivery. Was told bluntly that they wont deal with any enquiry till after 14 days as Royal Mail arent very good at times and sometimes it takes a bit longer. They also have no tracking number they can check as the item would of been sent in the post. Lie number two, for those who arent familier with the Guitar Hero World tour package it comes in a fairly large box and weighs 142KG, there is no way that would of been sent standard post and there would certainly be a tracking number for it
Today the package arrives, and the truth revealed. It seems HMV didnt post it on the 17th like they claimed. The package came from Guernsey and had a customs declaration on it which had the real date of sending the 20th of November.
Now 11 days from ordering to recieving isnt great, these things happen though and it wouldnt really put me off buying from them again. The fact that they have lied several times has though. Had my order of said awaiting despatch until the 20th I would of accepted it and not been too botherd about it. The way its worked out now though wouldnt spend another penny with them no matter how good a deal they were doing.
So, if you order something from HMV and it doesnt turn up when it should the reason is they probably havent even got round to sending it yet

I've had problems with them too. Unless they tell you that something has been despatched it probably means that its out of stock & you only find this out when you pester them with emails.0

I've never actually received anything I've ordered from HMV.com - I've always ended up cancelling after items keep getting delayed. Two weeks ago I pre-ordered a DVD which was released last week. On the release date I checked the order status and it had changed from pre-order to being on special order from the suppliers. I cancelled and ordered it from Amazon and using Prime, it was delivered the next day.0

Jings, I've ordered hundreds of items from hmv.com and only one thing's ever gone missing (nothing expensive, either, just a £2.99 dvd). I waited the 14 days, filled out the form they emailed me & they sent another. Simple as. Most of their stuff is free postage anyway & I'm not too fussed if it isn't next day delivery ... if i needed anything urgently from them I'd dive into their shop & buy it.
Sorry you've had problems, though.0
