Opinions please - give an Xmas present early or not?

  • i would say yes. what about a special 'christmas day' with grandparents before you go where you have a nice meal and exchange presents. im sure that grandparents would love to see the girls opening their presents from them, especially as they have spent so much!

That's a good idea. We don't have time for a meal (I tried to organise it a while ago before they went on holiday and then my sister did) but the girls are actually going for a sleepover this Saturday.

Better hurry up and order the darn thing if we do this! (Edit - they haven't spent anything yet! But they are being generous.)

Need to discuss with hubbie. :)

I would say no,as she will have it for the journey home, and the novelty will not have worn off. Let them share the ipod on the way out with a selection of their own stuff on it,and timed turns. When it is not their turn they can do other things. That way they are both happy, and the magic of Christmas is not lost. If you do it once, she will ask again!!

I'm not worried about that to be honest. And wouldn't let that be a reason, because life isn't consistent and decisions are there to be challenged, as difficult as it is for us parents when our children do so. But he who can adapt, without being afraid of doing so, wins IMO. But that's another chapter. :)

I'm not that technical but would she be able to put stuff on it if she's away  will she have access to a pc to download all the stuff she want's on it? Otherwise not much point in getting it til she get's back. I would be tempted to give it to her before the trip, it would also cut down on the handluggage with a cd player and a bunch of cd's or a teeny weeny ipod.
By the way 29 hours:eek: good luck hope you all have a fab holiday.

Putting myself in your shoes and the thought of a peaceful quiet hassle free flight means I say YES--give it to her.

  • i might be contrivertial with this,

How about getting the ipod and uploading some bits onto it - then if you are on the flight and she is really really bored (and your nerves are freyed :) ) then you can give it to her as a surprise on the plane.

If you dont need it, no harm just pop it back in the box and she can have it christmas day.

if you do need it then it will be a bigger surprise because she hasnt had it before she gets on the plane if ya see what i mean.

    Anyhoo,

    HTH

How are you going to recharge it on a plane? Mine will do about 5 hours of video before it dies (more for music alone.)
