hi,
my dads computer keeps refreshing on the windows desktop every few seconds.
when we try to open up 'my computer', when it refreshes the window closes.
my dad ran anti spyware last night to get rid of anything on the computer and from this afternoon it started refreshing.
just before it did this it wouldnt let us on the internet on his computer. we clicked on the browser icon and it seemed to start loading but then no internet browser actually came up on the screen.
does anyone have any ideas what it could be and how to solve it?
thanks in advance
Andy

It sounds like it might be a problem with explorer.exe
make sure that you have up to date anti virus, run an online virus check, pandas activescan for example.
run adaware and spybot and CCleaner.
and try copying a hi jack this log into https://www.hijackthis.de0 -
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
After downloading and installing AdAware be sure to let the program update
the file definitions, If you don't you can however update the file definitions manually
by starting AdAware then clicking on "check for updates now" .
Before running a AdAware scan be sure to disable System Restore for Windows ME
and Windows XP as restore isn't available for earlier versions of Windows, Once System
Restore Has been disabled run a scan then enable System Restore after scan is finished0 -
If the above suggestions don't work, double check that your F5 key isn't stuck down (Clutching at straws).. Also, check to see if it does it in safe mode (F8 at startup).Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
