Family Origins 4

Options
I got the above programme with PC Magazine many years ago and used to it to create my family tree. When I bought a new pc. I save all the files both to my spare hard drive and to disc. I've reinstalled the programme on the new pc and the files are there but it won't open them. I didn't want to have to start all over again as it took ages. The software is by Parson's Technology and the files are FOW, DBF or CDX. Does this mean anything to anyone?
I think the main ones are FOW.
Thanks

Cheers. It does appear to run and I could physically input all the data again, but it won't load the data itself. If I have to start again I'll try something more modern as this is 5 years old.
    Thanks

Just try right clicking one of the files and see if its read only or blocked.

i.e Go to My Documents and see if the file is there that you cannot
open and then right click it and choose properties, then see if its read only.

Did you update your original program online over the last few years? If you have now reinstalled the original program from disk it mightn't read the data files which may only be compatible with the newer version of the program. If you did update the program originally, go back and update again, then try reading the data files.
Its just a thought - I had this problem with Money 2005 last year.

if you start the old programme you have got and then click on Help, About, you may find who made the software, have a look to find the software company and then check out thier site and you may get some help, or post the site here as I wouldnt mind having a look aswell...
