The Site Is Perfectly Legal Under Current UK broadcasting laws, one of the reasons they withdrew the service last year, was due to the service being used outside of the UK.

They now use a variety of location-based filtering to prevent users from using the site outside of the UK (I've been a beta user for many months).

They also USED to allow you to record, this was also against the rebroadcasting rights under which they operate, so recording is no longer available. A desktop application is under development which will allow recording to the end users hard disk rather than to TVC's remote servers (as previously).

Great service, fantastic bunch of guys running it, and for Flash video, the quality is amazing for the bandwidth it consumes. (Just keep an eye on your download limit.....as it does use it while viewing!)

Also, Some people using orange broadband have reported difficulties accessing the service..........and sometimes Virgin too.

TVCatchup is a UK service and can be accessed only from within the United Kingdom.

Check the T&Cs of that tvcatchup.com site (great find, by the way! Thanks!)
and a license IS required.
When the Beeb launched iplayer they said we'd need a license even if we only ever watched it on a mobile phone and didn't own a telly, so it kind of figures.
