Can anyone help - I'm trying to find a price for an all-inclusive hotel in Mauritius from 3/4/09 - 17/4/09 for 2 adults, a 9yo & a 16yo (any 3/4 star hotel as at them moment I just want a rough idea of how much I need to beg/borrow/save) but I can't find a website that will give me a price past December 08!!
Are they going to sink Mauritius at Christmas and just not told anyone yet???

Actually yes, the islands are sinking but that is not why you cannot get a price - it is because flights are only bookable so many months in advance, the reason is there are so many schedule changes etc.
Try Virgin Holidays, but in honesty at a guess id be surprised if for 4 of you you had much change out of £3k.0 -
I couldn't access Mercury Direct's pricing on their website just now but I have a brochure here with prices through to the end Of Nov 09.0

Normally you can book flights 11 months in advance so thought we'd be ok to get a price for April next year.
Don't actually need flights as the lovely people at Virgin have given us 4 free flights to wherever so it's just the hotel!
£3k for 4 of us sounds like a bargain to be honest - I thought it'd be loads more than that!!xxx Nikki xxx0 -
In that case cheapes i found throiugh expedia was £988 for four of you for your dates - 3 star hotel.
An apartment - £1177
5 star hotel - £6,000 - £12,0000 -

I wouldn't advise staying in an apartment in Mauritius. It can be expensive to eat and drink out and there are not many places to shop...apart from the main market in Port Louis.
We stayed at Berjaya Le Morne Beach Resort & Casino which was a lovely 4 star all inclusive resort, where everything was just perfect.
The photographs on that site do not lie. We stayed in one of the very spacious rooms, a stones throw from the gorgeous beach....where we got married
Checkout trip advisor to see mixed reviiews...but mostly good.
Do lots and lots and even more research on the hotels, before you book.
We were going to stay at quite a nice (posh) hotel on the Eastern side of the island until I learned that it is very windy there...most of the time.
We stayed in the south and hired a car. I really wanted to check the hotel out, on Ihe Eastern side of the island...and boy was I glad that I hadn't booked to stay when we got there. The beach and the sea was absolutely awash with horrible seaweed...because of the awful winds and currents!!
The people are absolutely lovely and will treat you like royalty if you tip them (little and often) They earn a pittance and we were very shocked when we went out and about to see the poverty stricken people living in tin shacks and washing there clothes in the local rivers!!!
Have a wonderful time..as we did, and make sure that you go scuba diving, which is breathtaking. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Thanks - have been to the travel agent's and now have enough brochures to open our own branch!! We're going to spend the weekend looking through them but at the moment our favourite is looking to be Le Coco Beach, although it is on the East side of the island we think it'll be better suited to us as we're taking the kids and it's one of the few family oriented hotels on the island.xxx Nikki xxx0

We're going to Shandrani (AI) and Le Victoria in August next year, and got a really good price from Tropical Sky (a lot cheaper than any of the high street agents). There are quite a lot of family friendly hotels - you'll find that most offer a kids/teens club. You could also look at Sugar Beach and La Pirogue. Almost all offer free water sports.
Good luck with choosing - I've done quite a lot of research, so would definitely recommend checking out tripadvisor.0
