The critically acclaimed Cinema16 series continues with World Short Films,
which will be released on DVD in the UK 17 November 2008.
Amongst the A-list directors confirmed are Andrea Arnold (Red Road, UK), Guillermo Del Toro (Hell Boy 1 & 2, Pan's Labyrinth, Mexico), Park Chan Wook (Old Boy, South Korea), Sylvain Chomet (Belleville Rendezvous, France), Taika Waititi (Eagle V's Shark, New Zealand), Alexander Sokurov (Russian Ark, Russia), Guy Maddin (My Winnipeg, The Saddest Music in the World, Canada), Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men, Y tu mam! tambi!n Mexico), Jane Campion (Bright Star, The Piano, New Zealand) and Ousmane Sembene (Moolaad!, Ceddo, Senegal).


The 16 films are:
-From the UK Andrea Arnold's Oscar winning and critically
acclaimed festival hit WASP available for the first time on DVD;

-Guillermo Del Toro's never before released DONA LUPE, re-mastered especially for Cinema16;

-huge cult hit FORKLIFT DRIVER KLAUS available for the first time in the UK;

-Park Chan Wook's first and only short film JUDGEMENT;

-Japan's Naoto Yamakawa's ATTACK ON THE BAKERY, an adaptation of the Haruki Murakami short story The Second Bakery Attack;

-Guy Maddin's MY DAD IS 100 YEARS OLD a surreal docu-fantasia

-Jane Campion's menacing and visually striking A GIRL'S OWN STORY;

-'the grandfather of African Cinema' Ousmane Sembene's 1963 BOROM SARRET;

-and Simon Ellis' frighteningly realistic portrayal of youth culture and violence in SOFT.


With over five hours of films across this special double DVD edition WORLD
CINEMA16 is essential viewing for anyone with an interest in the moving
image. The majority of the films are accompanied by audio commentaries,
almost always by the directors themselves.



CINEMA16 celebrates the short film by showcasing some of the best classic
and award winning shorts on DVD.
