OK after much looking around and questioning I am about to purchase from PCWB a HP 6735S
Processor - AMD Athlon QL-62 Memory - 2048MB 800 DDR2 Hard Drive - 160GB 5400rpm Optical Drive - LightScribe DVD+/-RW Display - 15.4 inch WXGA Connectivity - Broadcom 802.11b/g Operating System - Vista Business with XP Pro Media
309 plus vat (363.75)
Any advice would be great. I do need the business operating system so am unable to go for some of the deals on here.
Thanks for looking.

I've always used Dell Latitudes for business laptops, and have never had a problem with them - however they are more expensive that the one you mention - the one you mention isn't what I'd class as a "business laptop". Something like the Latitude E6400 is excellent but pricey at £990.
Most suppliers will let you upgrade to Vista Business, or Ultimate from a Home version.
If you specifically need XP rather than Vista, Dell will offer downgrade rights on many of it's business systems too, some other suppliers will also, just ring and ask.0 -
The XP bit is for the network. When I say business laptop it is for an occasional user who will really be using it for email as much as anything. The business software that it will have to run will be fine on this spec according to our suppliers.
I have a Dell myself (touch wood) that has been fine and this is a replacement for a stolen Dell that was not insured!0 -
It'll be fine for that then!
Dell often can offer XP with other machines too, along with other suppliers, so it can be worth ringing to check.0 -
I did get a good price from Dell on one of their low end machines but when I got to ordering point there was a statement that there were huge delays on the product!! Unfortunately I need it fairly soon.0
