Why not? If he hates women so much you're probably going to be first against the wall anyway.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I quote from his e-mail this morning "
DRESS
Black tie for Gents (this has already been arranged - if not please see *****)
Elegant ballgowns for the Ladies!!
If you require any further information please don't hesistate to contact me"
He definitely is discriminating. Email HR a copy of this email saying you consider this discrimination and want either ballgowns hired for ladies OR men to provide their own suits, but not for the sexes to be treated differently.
I mean, ballgowns are specialist outfits and cost a lot. I don;t know anyone who owns a ballgown.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

how about getting a tux, as well? or asking one of the other men in the office who doesnt want to go to get, one in your size..?
failing that, get dress as stated, then slip in the receipt with other expenses later on..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -

Blatant discrimination. HR need to deal with this asap.0 -
The cheek :eek: I'd state that if they're not gonna provide dresses, I'll also wear a tux
see how they like that. If they still play nasty, I wouldn't go tbh!

Neither do I. I suggested that I wear my wedding dress as its the closest thing I got but he refused to pay for the dry cleaning! That's the other thing. I have to buy something then pay for it to be dry cleaned afterwards. The menfolk just hand back their hired tux0 -
I'd just not go. I'd say I can't afford it and leave it at that.
I've never had a posh dress and wouldn't even know what an elegant ballgown meant.
Tell them "thanks, but no thanks"0
