Is this sex discrimination?

I don't have any legal advice but just wanted to post my support. Good luck!0

Isn't he a complete sweetheart !
So far he's guilty of :
Sex discrimination
Bribery and corruption
Giving incorrect guidance on taxable benefits
Giving incorrect guidance on correct dresswear
Not many managers can collect that many penalty points over one issue !
Of all of these, the most serious is bribing and corrupting a junior member of staff with money ! Although sex discrimination only loses out by a very short nose......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I'm wondering if the MD is even aware of it and if so there goes another person to include in your report.
I think the MD is potentially involved and even more wrong to be so. The MD has had it in for me for a while (and here's a shocker) When my husband and I got engaged (we both work for the same company) she said she was fine with it as long as it never got in the way of our performance.
Since then she's hauled us both over the coals about talking about our personal life in the office (me for showing a colleague my wedding photos when I got married but everyone else can including her showing photos of their wedding and child to anyone they come across) him for an alleged complaint which was never detailed and never documented. We're both so paranoid now that we spend every day pretending that we're not married to each other which the rest of the staff think is hilarious.
I quote " Everyone here knows you two are married but you two are going to have to separate your private life from the office and not talk about it"
There has never yet to date been a proper allegation from anyone and my immediate colleagues think its ridiculous that I have to walk on egg shells in the office.0 -
Note that there has never to date been an issue with my husbands or my performance0

your husband will be glad to hear that!0

I think in those circumstances, no matter how narked you were by the manager's decision not to pay for dress hire, that you've been a bit reckless. It doesn't make it right or fair, but what are you going to do if both of you end up losing your jobs out of vindictiveness - if you both happen to be selected for redundancy as soon as the business's profits dip. Yes, you might have a claim for unfair dismissal but in this economic climate the compensation for this will be a poor exchange for two steady jobs. Had it just been one of you employed by the firm it would have been bad enough, but with both of you there, in my opionion your principles may well end up being very expensive.0

Principles always are, but if no-one fights then everyone loses. I'd be doing exactly the same thing as the OP because discrimination cannot be allowed to continue. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Fair enough, but I personally wouldn't put the whole of my family's income on the line for the sake of £30 or whatever the going rate for a tux for a night is, particularly if I already knew the managing director already had it in for me, and would be unlikely to support me against my line manager when it came to the crunch.0
