I want a credit card

in Credit cards
Hi all,
For many years i have survived using only cash and a debit card. I think it is time to get into the modern world and have a CC. However, in the vein of MSE i want a card that will benefit me.
The CC will be used for all my online purchases and will be paid in full asap.
I have a nectar points account.
I like things that say "platinum account" "gold account" etc....
but not essential.
I'd like a CC that gives me a freebie incentive on my application being successful
I have never held a CC before.
Any ideas?
Ta all!

I would say the two best ones at the moment are the Amex Nectar card for purchases at Nectar sponsors and the Tesco Mastercard for everywhere else.0

I have tesco points card too, what are the benefits of a tesco mastercard over other cards?0
-
I would suggest Egg Money card, 1% back on all purchases and 4% interest on credit balances.

You get 1 point for every £2 you spend on top of any clubcard points you already receive. This equates to 0.5% cashback if you use the points earnt for Tesco shopping or 2% if you use them for deals.Ivrytwr3 wrote:I have tesco points card too, what are the benefits of a tesco mastercard over other cards?
Unlike most other cashback cards (where you get your cahsback once per year) you get your Tesco points every 3 months. With the Amex Nectar card you get your points every month!0 -
one last question (i forgot to mention!) I do not want any charges, so with the Tesco master card will i incurr anything?0

No, but only if you:with the Tesco master card will i incurr anything?- make payments on time (use Direct Debit);
- don't go over your limit;
- don't withdraw cash;
- don't use the card abroad.
Fees
None.
Charges
0% interest balance transfers subject to a handling fee of 2% with a minimum of £2.00 and a maximum of £45.00. Cash advances subject to a handling fee of 2% with a minimum of £2.00; foreign exchange transactions subject to conversion fee of 2.75% (including purchase of foreign currency and travellers cheques)
Default charges
£20 if a cheque (payable to us) or direct debit cannot be paid; if you go over your credit limit; if you fail to pay on time; if we return a cheque unpaid.0 -
