corrupted my 1gb sd card with a new usb reader/writer

Options
Hi there I just purchased a 5 in 1 card reader from ebay, and used it on my computer, after installing driver. I inserted my 1gb SD card with my photos in it and the light on the reader lit up, however my desktop said that there was a power surge that happened on USB hub and that the USB device was using more power than rationed for it. I tried to access the card but it didn't work, then i inserted it back in my camera , and it didn't work either, nor in my PDA. It seems that the card has been corrupted ( 1GB - SD card) after usage of the card reader. Scared , I have put the card reader back into the packaging .

I have contacted the seller regarding this.

I have also tried to format the card etc. but to no avail. Do you guys have any guidance.
Inside I am THINKING.

How have you tried to format it? If you are using the Windows built-in tool, see if you can get a third party tool as the windows one doesn't always work as well. :)

What brand is the card? I always buy with good brands such as kingston or Samsung etc as I know that Kingston has a lifetime warrenty on their cards therefore if the card ever goes wrong you get a new one free of charge if you send it to them.
