Vision2learn - education again....

I started a V2L course in Nov last year and completed in August, The course was free and I had good support from my tutor via email. All the assignments and final exam were completed at home and submitted to my tutor online.
I am still waiting for the results of the exam and my Certificate but the tutor did say they would take a while.0 -
I am also doing the course with vision2learn and everything is ok. There is nothing dodgy here.2014 - Lisbon - February

Hmmn. I posted this thread last December. I was made to wait until Easter this year to apply for my course, because nobody local would support it. Then when I was asked to fill in a paper application form, they suddenly decided that they still had nobody local to support the course. Vision2Learn then changed their website to check your postcode, and mine kept telling me that I was unable to do their course. Eventually in September I spotted a local college offering the course I wanted and I then challenged Vision2Learn, (whose website said I still couldn't do the course). Eventually they agreed that this college did do the course. However, V2L inisted that I should have done an intermediate course beforehand.
Eventually, after some negotiations, they finally agreed that I could study Wizard on the Web. I signed up for the course and wrote the introduction about myself. Due to family problems, I had a lot on my mind for a couple of weeks. Then I received an email from my tutor saying that they were giving her the chop. It would appear that they didn't have many students for this course locally. (Now I wonder why that would be !!!!!!). I was invited to finish a six-eight month course in around about a week. I worked like mad, around the clock, and managed to complete one module out of three, which my tutor dutifully marked and credited. Now my tutor has been great throughout all this. And I support her fully.
However, part way through my second module I got stuck and asked my tutor for help via V2L's v-mail system. She didn't reply. So eventually I contacted her through a private email address I had for her. She told me she was sorry, but that they had ended her contract there. She had offered to work on for a couple of months to help students finish their course, but they had said "no". I guess they were unhappy with the low numbers of students. (Watch my lips - if you turn students away repeatedly, you won't have very many !!!!).
So now I am in the unfortunate position of having waited a long time. I've worked like mad over a short period. I am unable to complete this course. (The college no longer has anyone qualified to do this course). My login screen today quite clearly shows the name of a woman who is no longer at that college. And Vision2Learn Administration Department won't talk to me.
Do you think I am happy with this?
Would you be happy with this?

Your college has certainly treated you badly, but surely Vision2Learn should help you. Wizard on the Web must be one of the more interesting and most popular courses offered by V2L, and so is offered at a number of colleges.
I also did Wizard on the Web, and the students on my course were told about April this year that the college had decided a year ago to stop their Vision2Learn courses by 1 July. I rushed to complete the Unit 1 assignments, and submitted the final one in May, telling my (very helpful and supportive) tutor that I hoped the college's decision did not affect him personally too much. I said that I aimed to, but was not confident I could, complete the three required units by July. Rather than waste his time, I offered to stop sending him any further work, but to contact V2L to transfer me to another college. He told me to continue on the course right up to the closure date as the college may extend the deadline. I then e-mailed all the other members of the course to ask whether they would support a request to college to extend the course, but got barely three replies.
My tutor did persuade the college to extend the course closure date to 1 September, and I just managed to finished by that date, although the tutor had to do some of the admin work on my external assessment in September, possibly in his own time.
I am now expecting to receive my certificate in December, and would urge you to chase Vision2Learn to find another college and arrange for you to transfer your work over so that you can complete the course. The whole point about an on-line course is that the college does not have to be local, and I know that there are colleges that are doing WOW and want students.
BTW: Are you still wanting help on the point that caused you problems in the second module? I'm not an expert, but have done the course, and could give you a little guidance if you care to PM me.0 -
it's actually quite good and free! ive been on it altho ii had to stop at one point due to my internet connection being took off...but when i was on it i was doin web deisng and it was all free.0

I've started the V2L course a year ago and it's absolutely free. The tutors are really nice and I enjoyed the courses as well. But you have to be serious about it and committed in order to complete the homeworks/courses on time, otherwise they will cancel your subscription and give it to someone else.0

Thanks for the support acc, but Vision2Learn say that there was one and only one college in my part of Greater Manchester (no not the remote hills of the Outer Hebrides, nor Cornwall), that could cover this course for me. Otherwise I wouldn't have waited nearly a year to start their course. And then the same month I start, they offer me a week to finish six to eight months work. I really want Vision2Learn to be big enough to stand up and admit that there is nobody there when I now click my tutor button. I know that for fact. I'm just interested how long they think they can bluff it. But we'll see how professional they are by the timespan they take to admit that nobody is running my current course. Or will they try the Monty Python approach of claiming the parrot is merely resting?[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0

I applied to do a short course - learning how to do web pages and HTML etc - would have only taken me about 2-3 months max. I applied back in April this year so I could do the course when I was in between college terms.(At Uni Full Time)
I sent off all the papaerwork in good time etc etc and then V2L said there was a course starting shortly - this was back in june - Despite emailing and calling the college - I eventually got a start date - 10th October!!! - Which was prtetty damn useless as I am now back at Uni with not even 5 mins to spare in between 8 assignments and 2 kids under 11!!!
Not happy with the delay at all, even if it is free - they are still getting paid to do it with government - ie taxpayers money!!Noli nothis permittere te terere

Replying to Iffy_wallet if you contact V2L again I know of a large college in Greater Manchester that has been given a contract to provide V2L courses. They offer a variety of courses.0
