i have noticed over the weeks that the Spybot - search and destroy software takes ages to do a scan. Any idea why? Has anyone experienced this?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Yes, I've noticed that. I did a scan last night and it raced through to about the half-way point and then suddenly slowed to an almost imperceptible crawl for ages and then suddenly raced again to about the 90% mark where it did the imperceptible crawl bit again until just before the end and then there was a race to the finishing line.0

I think we are looking at what Microsoft would call a Feature...
On the other hand, the Spybot FAQ asks Why is Spybot S&D that fast? ... :rotfl:0 -
I prefer to use SuperAntiSpyware (rubbish name I know but one of the best) http://www.superantispyware.com/0

With these 3 I'd say the order, for me at least, would be:
1. SuperAntiSpyware
2. Spybot S & D
3. Spyware Terminator
Check out the poll on another security forum here: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=2162720 -
Polls say NOTHING about which is best though
Id say use SPYBOT to immunise (Prevents nasties)
and Superantispyware as 'real time' protection:idea:0 -

Agreed however they're a very good INDICATOR when completed by knowledgeable people - which I believe, from reading the Wilders forum, a lot of people are. NEVER go just on polls, do your own research - as I say though, a good initial indicator.0 -
