Indoor plants for dummies
Hi,
Am a bit of a newbie with gardening but love having flowers in my house and would prefer to have plants instead of store bought flowers (no garden)
In our bedroom we have an old fireplace which is very pretty and unused. My plan was to have a plastic pot in the fireplace and a range of seeds/bulbs inside this that would all bloom at different times of the year meaning that I would have near constant flowering if that makes sense. I also want ones that will bloom again next year rather than just this year. (like I said, newbie lol)
So what would you suggest planting (want easy care as well hehe)

If you hadn't said flowering I was going to suggest Aspidistra, architectural leaves and does not mind poor light and irregular watering.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I would say a peace lily is indestructable but if you want bulb like flowers then you could try a primula/mini daff basket kind of thing or something like this0

to be honest, not really sure. Want something kinda simple, have had peace lillies in the past and do like them so might be worth while.
What is Aspidistra? and primula? sorry, really am a doughball lol.
I do quite like the idea of having mini daffs for the spring time!0 -
If you do a bit of googling you'll find some pictures of them. Primula is also known as primrose.0

The problem with bulbs like mini daffodils and other spring bulbs is that they don't live that long inside due to the warmth.
Peace lilies, busy lizzies, some lilies and mini roses seem to do ok inside. The first two seem to the live and flower the longest - well one of my two peace lilies seems to be flowering every other month and my busy lizzies where still flowering last month until I decided to cut them down.
Edited to say- you can use normal busy lizzies you get in the garden centre they don't have to be the special type.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
