I was looking to buy this for my son he has 1 already but its just out of warranty by 6 weeks and the 3 red rings came on so it went back to Microsoft for repair only had it back 5 days and something else went on it so its now back again for repair they collected last Friday .
He looks after it like you would not believe the lazer has damaged the new game he just brought for it also he is very upset about the whole thing and losing time on line .

But someone has said he could now buy a white one and use his hard drive from the Elite and it would work ok as they are much cheaper would it work .

Certainly the hard drive is interchangeable with a new machine, but if it's back with MS, why not wait until they respond? You may get another one anyway.

Yes it would work, does he use the HD part of the elite eg has he got a HD tv if not then get him an arcade as you can get them for about £130,

if the black elite isnt worth repairing then ms will send a reconditioned one back

He won't lose his time online. When MS send them back from repair, they include a voucher for a months Live Gold subscription.

Yes he will wait to see what happens from MS but he is losing his ranking as you can tell he plays most nights he is ( :mad: ) a bear with a sore head lol

Well this xbox is just 6 weeks out of the 12 months and went back to MS for repair of 3 lights ,

only had it back for 5 days and he then got 1 red light he phoned them and was told to try another cable and they know about the update.
The ( next ) update took the sound away from the HDMI cable/slot at a cost of £15 for a new cable.
so was sent back again this time to Germany they had it 10 days got it back today still no sound with the HDMI cable .
He is so mad he will phone them in the morning

Well the new xbox arcade came and worked fine till he had to do the ( update )
then no sound though the HDMI cable , so after speaking yet again to MS a very helpful person he now has sound with the cable and very happy , so he is very pleased the elite his baby does not have to go back to ms , so will keep the other arcade as it was a very good price or would be going back but grandson can use it when he stays over.
