£50 off Post Office HomePhone service

Hello everyone,
I run a sub Post Office in South Yorkshire, and so thought I would offer to answer any of your questions about HomePhone and the new £50 off deal.
Basically, the HomePhone service is great for anyone who doesn't want any hassle with their phone. The sign up goes quickly and without problems, there's no need to remember to use any prefix codes, you save on calls compared with BT Option 1, and you only get a single bill from the Post Office for both line rental and calls.
Additionally, you're also guaranteed to save over £12 a year on line rental compared to BT. This month BT increased their rental to £12 per month (£11 by direct debit), the Post Office have reduced their rental since launch to £10.95 (£9.95 by direct debit).
The £50 offer makes the whole deal a bargain. £25 is automatically deducted from your second and third HomePhone bills. (This doesn't apply to the first bill because it only covers line rental which is paid three months in advance like all companies). Of course after having the savings you're free to switch to another provider because the Post Office have no minimum contract length.
To replace your BT Friends & Family, you get HomePhone 'Loved Ones'. This gives you the usual 10% discount on ten numbers you pick. You also get a free 5 minute call to each of these numbers on christmas day and their birthday (you specify the birthday for each number when you select them, you can also make a longer call if you want and the first 5 minutes are free). There may also be other free calls offer occasionally. For example, all HomePhone customers got free calls to any local and national numbers on New Years Day.
The customer service number is also free, is available 24 hours and doesn't have ANY automated prompts - you get put straight through to an operator to assist you. I can personally recommend the customer service, every time I have called with queries about my line or general questions the phone has been answered instantly.
I've been using the service for over 6 months now without problems, and have reduced by bills, so it gets my recommendation. I also have lots of very happy customers, one in particular who thanks me for recommending the service to her each time she comes to pay her bill.
If you have any questions about HomePhone then please post them here and I'll certainly do my best to answer them promptly.

Chris. Your not allowed to post referal links here, and only on the referral page if you follow the strict criteria. see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=103393.
Also you seem to have chosen to ignore the valid points i made in post 9 of this thread.PF.0 -
Firstly, sorry I didn't realise there were such rules about referrals. I've moved my referral code to the Referrals Board. Apologies. Just trying to keep my branch open! :-)
Secondly, I thought I had covered your points in my posting. I didn't contradict your point that Callsign doesn't work, and I'm not personally aware of anyone who uses it. I also stated that HomePhone is suitable for people who don't want hassle with their phone service, which from talking to my customers is what a lot of people seem to what. This therefore excludes people who want to use CPS or the override services for different kinds of calls. I also don't dispute that the Post Office charges for caller display, but again none of my customers that I have discussed this with seem to use caller display, indeed most haven't got a suitable phone!
Finally, I apologise for missing your point about the repair service. I assure you it is certainly not second rate to the BT service. I used this myself when a recent storm damaged phone lines on the whole of our street. I was able to get straight through to a Post Office operator to inform them, and my line was fixed the same day. They even called me regularly on my mobile to inform me of repair progress. And of course the lines are still owned by BT, so all repairs are carried out by BT engineers. My customers with BT informed me that they spent considerable time on mobiles calling BT to inform them of the problem, and some were still waiting for repairs at the end of the week.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=140578Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I don't make many calls on my home phone as I have a mobile package that allows 600 free mins per month anytime and cross network. Purchased when doing another job and don't use them all so make all calls from that instead of home phone. Decided that the post Office was ideal for me and get the £50.00 then maybe switch back to BT after I had the money. (Take the money and run senario) Registered on 28/01/06 via internet. Got back confirmation, so thought all was well. Rang the Post Office yesterday to find out what was happenening and they have no record of my application! The Post Office man said that it had happened to losts of people. So have now registered by phone. Only took 2 mins ( quicker than internet )3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0
