Current account with bad credit?

Options
I had perfect credit.....so perfect when i did first need help at the bank (HSBC) they refused to help as my credit score was too good! then I tried to reclaim charges they started charging me £250 per letter:eek: etc....anyway that is with the ombudsman, I followed advice and changed to another bank for daily stuff, but by that time Aprox 6mnts HSBC had ruined my credit rating, now they have put on a defult. Halifax gave me a "basic account" with does dd's and visa electron:rolleyes:

However I am trying real hard to get out of debt, i have paid off about £3k and only have £1k to go:D but my money that comes in is NEVER on time, and this is causing a problem as when a dd tries to come out, even if there is only 1p not enough the bank refuse the dd, charging me for the plesure, then 9 out of 10 times the company charge me too, I desperatly want a current account with a very small overdraft, £50-£100 for those occsions where my money is just about to come in. As it is not making sence, for example out of £390 that i had come in this month, £200 got used for bank charges as the £390 was a week late, meaning i cannot do a food shop this month.

Is there anyone the offers a current account with a smal overdraft for "bad credit" people?
 BIG Thank you to Competition posters & the person who created the "entered" button!

It will all depend on how bad your credit rating actually is.
Your post is a little conusing - you say you couldnt get an overdraft but then say you've only got £1000 of £4000 of debt left to pay off. Did you get this debt from somewhere else?

If your money is alway late going into the bank, why don't you just change your direct debits to come out a week later than they currently do?

If Halifax have only given you a basic bank account, it's unlikely any of the other high street banks will. Although I have heard people talk of Citibank giving them a £500 overdraft - I have non experience of it, but if you search the forums for 'Basic Bank Account' you should find it.

I would, however, advise you not to get yourself into more debt when you are still trying to pay some off.
