What card to pay off my car? (Refused by Egg)

in Credit cards
I bought a car in Spetember on finance and I would like to get a credit card at 0% to pay off the remainder so I can then pay off the rest interest free.
I've done a bit of research & I applied for an egg card online but I've been refused. (Only debt I've got is my car, had the same job for 5 years, never had a credit card before)
So now I'm looking at applying for another card but was wondering which one would be best. How would it work if I wanted to pay off the finance company? Could I give them my credit card number and that would settle the balance therefore I would need a card with 0% on new purchases.
I understand that I would need to transfer the balance to another card every 6-9 months to keep the 0%. Also has applying for the egg card & getting refused made my credit rating worse? Would applying for another one do the same?
A lot of questions I know but I'm new to credit cards & would like any advise possible
Cheers

We tend to think that not having had credit before is a plus. On the contrary it is a minus.
If you have not borrowed then there is no evidence to show that when you have borrowed you have repaid in an exemplary manner.
Are you on the electoral roll?

You need a card , Egg or Mint, that does Super Balance Transfers. If you do not know what that means find out at this website.

Cheers for the info. I've not had credit as in loans or credit cards, but I've had finance on 2 cars, as well as insurance. Plus every month I pay NTL, Orange, AXA Insurance and TV Licensing by direct debit which I thought would have given me some sort of credit rating.
Yes I am on the electoral role and have lived at the same address for 4 years (living with parents).
I'll have to look into Super Balance Transfer cards.
Cheers

You could apply for a copy of your credit reference file just in case there is anything untoward on it. Visit the Experian and Equifax web sites - just get the bog standard postal copies for £2.00 each (ignore all the credit scoring stuff)0
