my laptop lid has broken the clip and hinges have come off the the screen is just being held on either side by 2 wires. its not under warranty anymore as ive had it almost 3 years. No insurance as i cancelled that a few months ago as money was/is tight.
Is there any way of fixing this? is there a diy way or will i need to take it to a computer repair shop?
Thanks

Depends on how bad the damage is, and what the model is.
A set of hinges/screen brackets and top plastics can be got on Ebay for as little as £20. Rarer models - with that fault being common - can be £30 just for the hinges. A decent local PC shop would repair it for parts plus £40 labour, it's not a long job.
If the lower half is damaged, ie where the hinges screw into is damaged, then that's a much longer job - an would probably cost £150 all in.
Weigh up the cost of repair against the new machine cost AND the cost of selling your laptop for spares on ebay.0
