Only private ones. Council ones - like this one will be - will be enforceable.

Not necessarily. If the ticket is wrongly worded, or if the bays are incorrectly marked, or if the sign is not in the prescribed format, then the OP has a reason to appeal.

And councils often get it wrong, despite having all the information from the DFT at their fingertips - all they have to do is copy the pictures, and even that is too difficult for them sometimes.

I just meant that it should not be tossed in the bin and ignored like the private ones

sorry, i couldnt see where it said it was council or private, still cant,
it just says loading bay, don't supermarket car parks have loading bays, sometimes out front.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Conor, if you have nothing useful to say in answer to my question please leave this thread.

The loading bay in question is in the middle of a high street (on a large hill with a sharp bend making it impossible for your lorry to get to Conor so don't worry) outside some shops so I assume it is council. I personally think that the wording of the sign is dodgy but I'm not sure how far mum would get with an appeal based on it?!

Conor has a fair point, I spent one and a half hours in Norwich stuck because blue badge holders had parked on double yellow lines in the turn around area. I am now a wheelchair user and always try to park out of the way.

Conor does have a fair point.

    But isn't it irrelevant?

This is a moneysaving board, and the OP is entitled to ask if there is a (legal) way not to pay the fine without being subjected to rudeness from a "holier than thou" lorrydriver!

I agree that Conor has a point.

However, this particular bay is for the use of disabled drivers as well as for loading (albeit at restricted times), and if the signs are confusing, then it's possible that the OP is not at fault for parking there.
