problem with new laptop

hi i have got a new laptop but i cannot get it to accept the @ button so i can type in my email address can anyone clue me in as to how to get it to work please

You are set up as an American Keyboard.
Go into regional settings in Control panel and then change to UK, delete the US settings and reboot.It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
