How much is BT line rental...?

Apologies if this appears elsewhere, but...

I keep reading that BT line rental (with paperless billing & D/D) is £10.50 but my monthly charge is £11.75. This includes free w/e & evening calls apparently but I don't want or use these. Yet the Indian girl at the call centre says that £11.75 is as cheap as it gets. So - which is correct ?

Tks in advance
Expect the worst & hope for the best...

Terms and conditions apply.

  • Our quarterly (whole bill DD + paperless) BT bill (Unlimited Weekend Plan) line rental is £30, plus there is £2.90 equipment rental. There is £1.07/month (£3.21/quarter) paperless biling discount. Then there is a 32p friends and family discount. But I can't make it be the £10.50/month it is supposed to be, even after taking off the paperless discount and adding VAT. Does the advertised £10.50/month include VAT? They advertise £10.50/month for Unlimited Weekend and the same for Unlimited Weekend and Evenings.

    I'm confused:confused:
  • It DOES include v.a.t., apparently, according to what the website says.

I re-queried my charges on-line twice & eventually received a phone call from a nice Ulster lady telling me that my monthly charge IS £10.50 [even though it says £11.75] but the deductions bring it down to 10.50. I am unable to [easily] check this because this quarter's bill is not for just 3 months but for longer that. Hey ho -- I suppose I'll just have to take their word for it...

Hey yeh it is isn't it £11.75/m inc VAT + (from my quarterly bill) £1.07/m discount+VAT =£1.25. Then £11.75-1.25=£10.50.

Still can't make out why our calling plan charge is £30/quarter though, since it all went up in April. It was £28.07 before that.

    £30 + VAT @ 17.5% = £35.35 which is equal to £11.75/month.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
