Ba

Hi

I was looking to book a flight to cairo and had two options Ba and Bmi.

With both Ba and Bmi the checked baggage allowance was 1 bag. However with Ba there was the option to pay for additional baggage. So i called customer services and asked the price, i was told £27 online or £35 at the airport. So i booked the more expensive BA flight based on this.

Now it is booked i have gone into manage my booking and tryed to book an extra bag and it is going to charge we £72 before hand or £90 at the airport!

I think the price i was quoted by customer services is for shorthaul services and Cairo is longhaul, stupidly i didnt take the name of the person in customer services.

There is nothing i can do is there??

You could pack carefully, bring what you need in one bag, and perhaps spend some of that 72 pounds on shopping in Cairo. There are plenty of modern shops there, and prices are a good deal lower than here.

Have you rang BA customer services and explained this to them? You probably won't get very far, but it's surely worth a couple of minutes out of a lifetime giving them the opportunity to make things right.

The first set of prices quoted are the short haul charges, the prices you were charged are the long haul charges.

Why did you ring BA when it's all on their website?

  • on BA in econolmy you are allowed 1 bag at 23KG, if the bag is more than 23KG but less than 32KG then you can pay an excess of £25 to check it in. If you need to check in a second bag you can pay £90 for bag 2 up to 23KG, again if this is more than 23KG but less than 32KG then you can pay a further £25 to check it in.

At the time i was booking i couldnt find it which was strange, so i thought if i called they could clarify for me asap. Also i had to do the booking really quickly so just needed an answer quick.

I have called them but they are not having it really! My fault to be honest, listening to a call centre! Usually i have more time to book things.

Think i may pay to upgrade its only £155 more and i get two bags!!

    Not happy but Ho Hum!
