HELP - don't want to disapoint a 3 year old...

My 3 1/2 year old is asking for 'Blow Blocks' for christmas. I have no idea what he is talking about. Something about red and blue and there is a fan involved.

I do wonder if it is something he has dreamt up - but whenever we discuss Christmas he says this is what he wants. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am guessing the name is wrong as I have googled it and found nothing. Please help I really don't want to disapoint him if I don't have too.

Thank you!

Nicola

    Hi Nixinix,

I've just gone on to the Argos website, and had a bit of a guess at construction / blocks - and it brings up 70 items.

Then I had another thought, and Blow sounds a wee bit like Lego .... so wondered if he meant lego blocks.

Could you sit him down with the Argos book and get him to show you it, as there were loads and loads of different choices - maybe dress it up as he needs to write to Santa so you're going to cut the picture out and send it in the letter, to make sure it's the right one.

    Good luck!!!

There's a Wii game called Boom Blox, if that helps...

He's probably seen something in a TV advert, or maybe something another child at his nursery has (assuming he attends a nursery). If it's something on TV then just keep an eye out when he's watching. Or maybe the staff at the nursery can help.

Hadn't thought about sitting down with an argos catalogue - so thank you for that. Also hadn't thought about the fact it might be a Wii game...... will look into that as well. Thank you both for your swift response. He tries to explain it to me so clearly but I just get more confused. Thank you.

Onlyroz - I have just quized him and asked is it a computer game and he looked at me like I was stupid and said 'yes'.

I have looked up Boom Blox and saw it had monkeys in and asked if it had monkeys and got the same reponse so with your help we have sussed it. So Thank you - I didn't think about it being a Wii game, esp. as we don't own a Wii (we are thinking of getting one though!) Thanks again.

    Hi nixinix

I have been there, trying to understand what the heck my little boys have wanted as their dream gift!

You need to do some clever detective work, so rather than asking him to describe it any more, maybe ask how he found out about it, where has he seen it, have any of his friends got it, do they have it at nursery, is it at anyone's house they have visited, or did he see it on TV? It may well be that if it's a TV advert, tell him that when it next comes on to shout for you to come into the room to see it if you're not about. Failing that, look through the Argos book, or even take him for a trip round somewhere like Toys R Us - remember to take a walk down the games aisle, just in case it is a video game he's seen.

We have a wii and a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old and even though the games say 3+ my youngest son find it very hard to play the games gets frustated and doesn't normally bother .There are the controls to consider i.e. press A all the time. and the hand eye coordination is also tricky. Do you have any friends who have one where you could test out how your son woud manage?
    hope it helps Melissa

my 3 year old also found it very difficult to play the wii for all the same reasons as rsdiscos. I ended up selling it in the end. One thing she can play though is the V.Smile - shes got the dora and the backyardigans games and she loves it! I wold reccomend starting him off on something like this then moving on to a Wii if you still wish!

THanks both rsdiscos and montymud. That was one of my concerns, and when you look at how much they cost I did wonder if it was a bit soon. Thank you for telling me your experiences, much appreciated.
