Missing or Currupt Files XP3

Hi anyone know how to restore these for this service pack? I tried uninstall with a view to downloading a new pack from M/S but soon as start up all hell broke loose no net connection all kind of scary messages and restarts by its self every 30 seconds.

Only just managed to tame the beast by quick typing %systemroot restore etc and getting back control again.

Any suggestions apart from a drastic reinstall?

Cheers

Muirhead

When you run in safe mode and goto the list of programs ~ is the service pack still there?
If so, uninstall it in safe mode

  • The service pack seems to be there its only a couple of files missing/damaged i need replaced Is it ok to download a second version from m/s on top of the original to repair the damaged files?

    I 'highly' doubt it

Id recommend uninstalling and starting from scratch

Service packs can be the trickiest of ALL software to install at times. As yours has failed once I REALLY wouldnt attempt to install 'over the top' of it

    Uninstall
    Reboot
    Download and try again

  • If I uninstall puter goes crazy cant get onlineor do anything as i said many lads thanks for your time anyway.
