Just wondered if anyone could help me with a facebook problem.
Someone has set up a user profile (false name of course). They have managed to get most of my friends and me as friends on their page. I realise now I should not have accepted this person as a friend.
They have now posted libelous comments all over my friends walls. They did write on mine but I deleted it.
The email address they used I believe was a hotmail address.
I have a good idea who did it, but is there any way to prove this? Will facebook be able to do anything.?

Have you reported it to facebook (should have been very first thing you did) so they can delete that profile? And have you removed them as a friend (otherwise it gives legitimacy to this person as far as your friends' perspectives is concerned)?
I doubt you'll really be able to prove anything."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

You can delete any posts on your wall, as soon as you remove them as a friend, they cannot post on your wall. You can also report posts and users usually under their name, near their message, or from their profile.
And obviously, as superscaper says, report it immediately to: abuse@facebook.com

thanks for this.
I did remove them as a friend. I also removed their posts. However, what I really wanted to know is whether or not I can prove that person did it as I am thinking of reporting it to the police.
They have deleted their own profile now.

Unfortunately it'd have to be the other way around. You'd have to report it to the police and then it'd be down to them to investigate and prove it was them (through IP address logs). But I very much doubt the police would either be interested or put in the effort. The proof you really need is those IP address logs but ISPs etc don't give those out without a warrant, hence why you'd need to go to the police first and rely on them getting the proof. I don't see any other way of proving it's a specific person other than it being very circumstantial."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

How do you remove your whole page on facebook.

deactivate account
It is worth noting that this only deactivates your facebook account but leaves all of your information on the facebook servers. If you deactivate your account and then try to log in again then you'll be reactivated and will be back to where you started.
If you really really want to delete your account fully and have all of your stuff deleted from the servers then use this link instead: http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account0
